Arden Noel: Member at Large

I am the chairperson of the Women's Committee.  We do a lot of interesting and worthwhile work in the community. Our main projects are the Front Room and the Surrey Food Bank drives that we do on a regular basis.  We recently collected over $35,000 worth of baby food, formula , toys and clothing for the tiny Bundles program at the Surrey Food Bank.  I am very proud of the employees of the City for this accomplishment.  We also serve a dinner the third Thursday of every month at the Front Room.  It is a drop  in center for the homeless in Surrey.  We supply the money for a group of women who  are retired, to cook dinner for up to 125 people once a month.  Different members come and help us serve the dinner and bring baking.  I also serve on the Environment Committee.  We recently put up a display at City Hall with the information on cleaners, different modes of transportation, websites for environmental issues and natural products to use.  I also sit on the Scholarship committee.  We decide which of our members or their childen qualfy to receive one of our many scholarships.  I aslo sit on the Executive Board and enjoy learning more and more about our local,  CUPE BC, and CUPE National procdures.
